If you've never read Valerian - and I would guess most English-speaking peoples would fall in that category - they're worth seeking out. I know there are English translations out there. Showing heavy Moebius influence, Valerian's adventures through spacetime painted an inventive and rather wonderful space opera.

    This is quite beautiful. At first glance I thought that it WAS by Moebius.

    Of course, from my perspective, Valerian and Laureline were flying the spacetime waves long before I ever encountered Moebius.
